When someone tells you to your face that you will no longer be able to participate in something you have been doing since you were 7 years old, it takes a part of you and your motivation away.
After two surgeries within one year on the same knee, those words were said to me right before my last eligible season of my football career and instead of giving up and throwing in the towel, I took a different approach by working hard everyday since my last surgery so that I would be able to play my last season. Throughout everyday, I worked hard to get better and relived the moment of that doctor standing in front of me saying, "You're done! You'll never be able to play football again".
Long story short: NAH, FUCK THAT. I played 6 games during my final year as a collegiate football player and I enjoyed every minute of workouts, practice and especially the games! And to that doctor, “I’ll tell you when I’m done!”
