Every day, 465,000 people are held in local jails even though they have not been convicted; legally, they are presumed innocent. Many are there because they cannot afford the money bail bond set for them.

According to the U.S Department of Agriculture, more than 12 million children in the United States live in "food insecure" homes. Given that statistic, those families are deprived of the most basic need for survival.
